Oct 6 (Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc (AMZN.O) will cease stay assessments of its automated supply robotic “Amazon Scout”, an organization spokesperson mentioned in an emailed assertion on Thursday, after the U.S. retailer realized this system didn’t utterly meet its prospects’ wants.
The corporate is now scaling again or “reorienting” this system, and it’ll work with the concerned workers to match them to different open roles throughout the group, Amazon spokesperson Alisa Carroll mentioned, including that it was not abandoning the venture altogether.
Amazon began testing the fully-electric Scout, which is of the dimensions of a small cooler and rolled alongside the sidewalks at a strolling tempo, in Washington state in 2019 earlier than increasing to Southern California, Georgia and Tennessee.
